Tällä viikolla lämpötilat ovat pääsääntöisesti huidelleet yli 30 asteessa. Alkuviikko tosin oli vielä vähän inhimillisempää, mutta loppuviikosta kyllä meinasi jo huumori vähän loppua. Tulee ihan Arizona ajat mieleen. Viikonloppu siis otettiin treenaamisen suhteen aika rennosti. Hommia tehtiin noin puoleen päivään, jonka jälkeen vielä jotain pientä puuhastelua ja sitten vapaille. Sunnuntaina tosin oli madotuspäivä, joten ihan normi työpäivä tuli kyllä täyteen.
Perjantaina kävin illalla vielä Violan kanssa shoppailemassa Stern Centerissä. Toppeja ja t-paitoja tarttui mukaan, niitä kun näillä lämpötiloilla kuluu aika järjetön määrä. Uudet shortistkin ois tietty ollut ihan jees, mutta enpä mä silloin tajunnut, että pakkasin aikoinaan Suomessa vain yhdet mukaan. No, no can do, seuraavalla kerralla sitten. Tärkeintä nyt oli kuitenkin päästä vähän tuulettumaan ja pois tilalta muutamaksi tunniksi. Jos iskee paha tuulettumisen tarve, niin shoppailukin menee. ;)
Mun ratsastukset ovat tällä hetkellä jääneet aika vähäisiksi. Pääsääntöisesti lähen vain seuraksi maastoon. Osasyy on polven kiukuttelu. Sen lisäksi on vakioratsuni Boogie siirtynyt lähes kokonaan tuntikäyttöön...Ja aika vähän mulla on loppupeleissä aikaa tehdä alkulämppää tms., koska vaikka saisin hevoset kuntoon hyvissä ajoin, teen sitten aina kaikkea muuta, kuten varustehuoltoa, kunnes Isa on valmis edellisen hevosen kanssa. Muuten kaikki "ylläpitotyöt" jää vielä päivän loppuun eikä sekään ole kauhean houkutteleva ajatus. Ja näillä ilmoilla tietty hevosen jäähdyttelyyn ja hoitoon menee paljon aikaa, joten laitan uuden hevosen valmiiksi, otan Isalta edellisen vastaan ja hoidan sen pois. Sitten haen äkkiä taas uuden hevosen kuntoonlaittoa varten, missä ajassa taas Isa on usein loppusuoralla sen hetkisen hevosen kanssa.. Että näin täällä. Katsellaan miten tilanteet kehittyy.

This Saturday morning we had a little surprise waiting for us at the brood mares' paddock. A beautiful filly by Shine My Gun, out of Sabrina Jac! Surprise because Prima had shown no indications about labour the night before and even the pH-level was normal. Well, luckily Prima is an experienced brood mare and she and the foal are doing good. The foal theme continued as I went with Georg to the breeding station to drop off Choco and her current foal Ciela for breeding. Before heading off to the station, Viola and I had some time to take pictures from our first foal of the season Ciela Whiz Gun (Smoking Whiz x Chock O Latte). I surely hope this time everything will work out with getting Choco bred, as we changed the stallion she'll be bred with. The breeding station was amazing!! All so clean and new. Wow! Must have been quite a big investment...
This week has been a hot one! The week end has given us temperatures around 30-35 C. Luckily the beginning of the week wasn't as bad. I wonder how I ever got through 4 months of Arizona. :D During the very hot days we've been taking it somewhat easier, working horses until noon and then doing something lighter until deciding to quit for the day. Sunday we had to de-worm all the horses so it was a normal work day..
On Friday I went shopping with Viola at Stern Center. Even though shopping is not on my list of favourite things to do, it was still nice to get away from the ranch for a few hours. And with this weather, you can never have enough t-shirts and tops, so I bought some new ones. Should have thought about buying shorts too, as I didn't realize that I took only one pair with me from Finland.. Well, maybe next time. :D
Other than that, everything's pretty much the same here. And now I have to get ready for our bbq-get-together! :)
